Please click on the link below to review how to drive on the beach; the locals do not take kindly to having to tow people out of the sand. The most important things to know are that you will need a 4x4 or AWD vehicle with at least 7.5 inches of ground clearance. You will also need to bring a tire pressure gauge (All-Top tire deflator on amazon). Reduced tired pressure is critical to driving on the beach. We strongly encourage your tire pressure to be 18-20 psi. (There is a location next to the beach access to deflate and check your tires).

The closest airport to Corolla is in Norfolk, Virginia, which is about a 90 minute drive to Corolla, NC. If you are renting or bringing a car, please make sure it has 4 wheel drive, as you will need to drive on thick sand to reach the venue. You can rent a car from the airport, but we would strongly encourage you use a service like Turo instead. Faster service, more options, and they will meet you at the airport as well. You will also need to deflate your tires a little bit before driving on the sand (recommend All-Top tire deflator on amazon). There are inflation stations should you need to drive back into town.

The Chesapeake is located in Corolla's 4x4 beaches and 2 miles away from paved road. Transportation will be provided to and from The Sanderling hotel and The Corolla Outer Banks Hampton Inn & Suites. If you wish to drive yourself, you must ensure that your vehicle has 4-wheel drive and that you deflate your tires prior to driving on the sand. There are inflation stations should you need to drive back into town. We prefer you take our provided transportation if you are not staying at The Chesapeake, because parking spaces are limited.

Unless we have specifically mentioned that you can bring your child, please enjoy a childfree weekend with us.

Guests can wear cocktail dresses or dressy separates for women, and suits or dressy slacks and a button-down shirt for men. However, please wear whatever you are comfortable in! Please keep in mind we are anticipating cold weather; you may want to pack your comfiest and fanciest coat.

The ceremony will take place outdoors, as well as the reception. There will be plenty of heat lamps around the deck to ensure our guests are comfortable. You will also be able to access the indoor common area to relax or use the restroom.
